Thank You for Making Mama Beautiful!
Posted in Uncategorized on June 2nd, 2010 by Kaitlin – Be the first to commentThe night was warm and wonderful.
We had 23Ham art everywhere, with resident artists not only showing their work but also cutting hair (yea Olivia), making pina coladas and smoothies (Natasha rules.), and cooking crepes to order (Drew is a wildman).
Sterling Johnson, the Bubblesmith, performed to the haunting and wonderously interactive sounds of Captains of Industry, lending all present the bright smiles of 6-year olds at the Exploratorium.
Pulses grew to meet and match the quaking rhythms of the Tatsumaki Taiko members. And when the drums ceased echos could be heard from the bubble wrapped room (only Andreina Davila could fathom…) as people jumped and laughed, bursting bubbles with hand and foot.
Judgement Day burst into night, and after receiving their share of bubbles in the face, went on to perform a set beneath the skyscraper (built by Derek Woodward), dropping jaws with every sweep of hand, bow and stick.
Million Star Hotel sang us songs of experience and desperate lullaby, reminding all of the price of wonder, creation and passion. Reminding all that turning to creation is worth its price.
Thank you to Natasha and Dan for making this possible, to the members of 23HAM who made it more beautiful than could be imagined,
to Alex Cory who made the sound possible, to Sterling Johnson who created joy with soap and water, to the members of Tatsumaki Taiko who gathered all rhythms to one heartbeat, to Judgement Day who silenced the worries of all for their set, to Million Star Hotel who came with stories we all must tell, to all the guest artists who came and brought fresh inspiration to all, to Trumer Pils for their everpresent generosity and neighborliness to 23HAM, and to the AMAZING volunteers (Michael, Larry, David, Keith, Gabriel, Greta, Allison, Thor, Scottie B., Elinor and of course Linda and Tom McSweeney, I love you.) And to everyone present… all were essential.
Pictures and Video from the event soon to come! Stay in touch for updates on the next MAMA…..
Coming Fall of 2010.
